San Diego Makes $15M Available for Affordable Homes

San Diego recently opened round eight, making $15M available to help affordable housing developments close funding gaps and move toward construction faster.
$10M is restricted to new housing, site improvements, and construction, while $5M can support construction, acquisition, or rehabilitation for very low income households.
The program has advanced ~3K affordable homes across 30 projects, with 676 completed so far, including 156 homes paired with supportive services.
Another 17 funded or approved projects represent ~1.6K homes, while 24 program sites used the permit track where avg. staff reviews took 9 days.
Qualified developers have until Oct. 19, 2026; proposals are judged on feasibility and community benefits, with bonus points for day care and emerging developer partnerships.
