These California cities are the most expensive for renters

Rent prices for apartments are increasing in major U.S. cities, with a national average rise of 2.5% for one-bedroom apartments. New Haven, Connecticut, experienced the largest increase at over 33%, followed by Lincoln and Omaha in Nebraska with rises of more than 26% and 24%. New York City remains the most expensive at over $4,280 monthly, while San Francisco and Jersey City follow. Conversely, Durham, North Carolina, saw a 12.8% drop in rent, and Chicago had an 11.1% decrease. Austin, Texas, is highlighted as the most affordable city for renters.
